Artist Statement
History molds our identity, shaping it through the remnants left behind as time progresses. In this age of unceasing innovation, what story will emerge from the artifacts of our time? I often find myself envisioning a scenario where the scattered fragments of mechanization lead future generations to perceive us as a unique amalgamation of human and machine. Our relentless pursuit of convenience and efficiency through ceaseless technological evolution might etch an enduring impression of this hybrid existence in the minds of those yet to come.
This concept serves as the foundation of my artistic practice, where I diligently craft ceramic sculptures and installations that seek to illuminate this very scenario. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance era depictions of the human form and the utopian/dystopian imagery of Surrealism and Futurism, I aim to depict the synthesis of the organic and the human-made. This juxtaposition of the familiar and the otherworldly is designed to provoke contemplation about the intricate relationship between technology and humanity.
